Question by Robert D’agostino: Advice for college approach… engineering hopeful!!?

The past 4 years have ben pretty crazy… FOr my first 2 highschool years, i did drugs, flunked in school, got kicked out, dealt drugs, and all that junk….2 years ago (in the beginning of my junior year) i got sent to a leadership development program in Nevada where we have no freedoms at all (not even the privelage to speak when we soplease), and in order to graduate the program, you must first find the integrity to admit your mistakes in the past, move on from them, and take leadership in the school to demonstrate all you have learned. It takes at least a year, and ive been there 20 months. Its no joke, the enire day is structured, and there is more structure than the military, but they do not make you do physical excercises… its all mental, and your confined to a 23 acre facility, and must walk in a line structure everywhere you go. My first 2 years of highschool i cared less about school, earned a 2.0 GPA. I than got sent away to this boarding/private highschool in Nevada i mentioned. Now i have close to a 3.4, i have 35 h.s. credits, a 31 on my ACTs, (34 in math), and a 1930 on my SATs, (680 in math, i mention so because my intended major is engineering). Ive also just taken my MATH 2s, and U.S. Hist. Subj. Tests. I have all A’s and A+’s since my Junior year, and i am loaded up with all the math credits i can take, from advanced finance, to pre-calc. I also have up to physics in science (with a 95 average), and i have 2 months left at this school to finish any other classes or recourse (take failed classes over). I have played varsity sports, including X.C., which im very good at, and ive got a ton on ExtraCurriculars under my belt, being head of 3 departments in Student Council thus far. Ive been a big part of a project went to the president regarding debt, in which he replied, and we communicated on an idea of a NATIONAL lottery, and the leadership development program that i graduate from in August is also a huge plus. I also intend to apply for colleges in this september for fall 2011… what should i be doing my 2 last months of school, or up until i apply so as to make sure that i have the best chances???? Any advice in my academic, or characteristic position as to what i could be doing to best describe all that i have done, and the change i have made, and the whole 9??? School is very important to me, and im applying from schools ranging from Wesleyan, Villanova up to Brown & Duke. May sound far fetch’d, but kids out of my school have gotten into very good schools, even w/ credentials like mine, and my academic rep believes i can get in anywhere…. any info/ advice is nice… just comment if you want!!!! thankk you!!!!!

Shoot for a school with an engineering program.

Consider a military school for engineering. It sounds like you might need some help staying out of trouble.
